The introduction of this technology-driven system is expected to make solid waste management more efficient, transparent and accountable, while providing improved civic services to residents.
Rane said that cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of the government but a collective responsibility of every citizen. He stated that the State government is committed to strengthening civic services through the use of modern technology and that the new system will ensure a more organised, efficient and transparent waste management process in Valpoi.
Under the project, household waste will be collected regularly through a scientifically managed door-to-door system. Advanced technology, including GPS-based vehicle tracking, geotagging and real-time monitoring, will enable authorities to track waste collection vehicles, monitor service coverage, verify collection schedules and respond quickly to pending complaints. The technology will help ensure that waste collection services are delivered consistently and efficiently.
The system will also enable officials to identify areas where waste collection has been missed and take immediate corrective action. Citizen complaints can be addressed more promptly, leading to improved sanitation standards and better municipal service delivery across the town.
The initiative also strengthens the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission and promotes sustainable urban development. Officials noted that proper waste collection, segregation and scientific disposal play a vital role in protecting the environment and improving public health.
