The Parsem panchayat has filed a complaint accusing the previous body of irregularities to the tune of Rs 35 lakh.
The locals have alleged that the Parsem panchayat had not taken anyone’s permission while purchasing some material.
The locals alleged that the former panchayat committee had shown that Rs 15 lakh was spent on focus lights and wires and that, the material was purchased from Sawantwadi.
There is also a bill showing purchases of chairs for Rs 3.5 lakh, claimed the locals. Some of the locals had sought details under RTI.
At the recent Gramsabha, residents demanded a thorough an inquiry into the matter by the vigilance department, and the current panchayat has asked the vigilance department for inquiry into the matter.
When contacted, former sarpanch Pragati Sopte denied any such scam.
Stating that under the 14th Finance Commission, Sopte said the panchayat had some funds, and at a meeting, had decided how to use it. The local body passed a proposal with everyone’s consent.
“After that, permission was taken regarding the purchase of material, to which the officers had given consent. We have not done any scam,” claimed Sopte.
