A delegation of Nationalist Congress Party members on Wednesday met the Goa Governor Mridula Sinha at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum requesting her to take cognizance of observations made and strictures passed by High Court of Bombay at Goa against Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar in connection with the alleged Serula Comunidade land grab case.
The delegation comprised NCP state president Jose Philip D'Souza, senior vice president and chief spokesperson Trajano D'Mello and others.
In his letter to the governor, D'Mello stated that he had raised the issue of illegal usurpation of the Comunidade of Serula land by Dilip Parulekar and his brother Pramod on various platforms and submitted a memorandum to various government authorities, including then chief minister Manohar Parrikar on March 25, 2014.
"The judgment of the HC clearly indicted Parulekar, a cabinet minister in the present government
for misusing his position for illegally grabbing land belonging to Comunidade of Serula. The court has observed that the conduct of Parulekar and other respondents is an illegal expedient to usurp of
land of the Comunidade without sanction of law," reads the memorandum which highlights the unconstitutional and illegal manner in which Parulekar allegedly acted to secure ownership of the said pieces of land.
NCP requested the Governor to advice the present government to drop Parulekar from its cabinet in light of such strictures by the HC.
