Entire South Goa, baring the Ponda taluka, will go without power supply on Sunday, April 30 on account of the planned shut down by the Electricity Department.
With the department issuing a public notice in this regard, sources in the know informed that the PWD may soon issue a notice announcing restricted water supply to the district given that the Selaulim water treatment plant comes under the Xeldem area.
A public notice issued by the Superintending engineer, South has stated that the power shut down will be in place between 7 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
The Power department was scheduled to go for the planned shut down last month, but later postponed the same on account of the Shigmotsav festivities in the State.
The notice stated that the Electricity Department has planned Annual Maintenance shut down at EHV sub-stations in South Goa at 220KV Xeldem Sub-Station, 220 KV Cuncolim Sub-station and 110 KV Verna Sub-station on Sunday. Hence there will be no power supply during above period in entire South Goa except Ponda taluka.
The areas to be affected by the shut down include the entire talukas of Canacona, Salcete, Sanguem, Quepem, Mormugao and part of Dharbandora taluka i.e. V P Kirlapal-Dabal, V P Shigao-Collem, V P Mollem and Part of Ponda taluka i.e. V P Panchwadi.
Power officials informed that the annual shutdown is purely for maintenance of intrastate lines and sub-stations at Xeldem, Cuncolim & Verna only.
