Severe leakage of rainwater through the damaged false ceiling at the Sports Authority of Goa gymnasium in Tilak Maidan at Vasco has caused a lot of concern among fitness lovers in the area.
The gym users have complained that despite several complaints, authorities have only undertaken a small patch-up on the ceiling, while ignoring the major issue of water seepage.
“Sometimes water accumulates in the gym and this could pose great danger as a person carrying heavy weights could slip and fall, damaging his body,” feared a gym user.
“Authorities must realise that it is tedious for people to shift the equipment to one side after water seeps inside. The gym recently got expensive state-of-the-art equipment, but all this is getting spoilt and we as users are concerned of further damage if this issue is ignored.”
“This problem has been there since the last two years and authorities are not doing enough. Mere patch-up work after monsoons is not sufficient,” the gym user said.
Incidentally, the number of gym users have dropped during the past two monsoons.
