Goan community holds Easter dine, dance in Milton Keynes

LONDON

The Milton Keynes Goan Community hosted its 3rd Annual Easter Dine & Dance at the Millmead Hall in Milton Keynes on April 6 for a vibrant evening of celebration, music, and community.

Entertainment for the evening was headlined by the well-known one-man solo performer, Iggy Fernandes and young Goan DJ Synclair Varella. They both entertained the crowd with foot-tapping music. The event was jointly compered by dual hosts, Simon Varella and Sydelle Varella, both well-known in the Goan social circuit and entertainment fraternity.

Guests were treated to a buffet prepared by Dosa Street, a flavourful highlight to the festivities.

The event opened with a heartfelt prayer led by Anne D'Mello, and Rositta Lawrence offered the grace before meals.

Othelia Fernandes, Chairperson of the MK Goan Community, welcomed everyone and spoke about the mission and growing presence of the community in Milton Keynes. She highlighted the work that goes in organising each event and thanked the attendees for their encouragement and support always.

The celebration wasn’t just adults, but the youngsters aged 5–16 years were treated to a fun-filled Easter egg hunt, while spot prizes were handed out to both kids and adults throughout the evening. A raffle draw and a round of bingo brought added excitement and friendly competition. Owl Financial also conducted a free raffle draw for all the guests present at the event and presented away hamper prizes to the lucky winners.

Richard Graham, Deputy Mayor of Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council, and his wife, Elaine Graham, were special invitees at the celebration and were felicitated during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Richard Graham said the inclusion of different communities in the fabric of any place for its rich cultural heritage and diversity is very important as it plays a significant role in bringing about social inclusion in the community.
