Cops recover four stolen bikes from Kolhapur-accused

PANAJI

The Panaji police have recovered four bikes including three non-geared and one geared motorbike, which were stolen by a repeat offender from the busy streets of Panaji and Calangute.

The police informed that these bikes, in good condition, were found at Kolhapur, the native village of accused Saddam Jamadar, who sold them to different buyers using the online marketplace OLX.

The 29-year-old, on July 6, was caught red-handed stealing a bike near the Panaji bus stand. His modus operandi involved targeting rental bikes, which he obtained by submitting forged identity proofs.

Addressing the media on Monday, Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said that a team of Panaji police recovered four bikes “ Activa 6G and Duke Motorbike, from different parts of Kolhapur.

“The thief had changed the registration plates of these bikes to avoid suspicion. He sold these vehicles for Rs 2 lakh,” the officer said.

Jamadar was caught in the present crime while he was on bail in a similar offense registered against him at Calangute PS.
