PANAJI
Parts of Goa received rain on Thursday evening, while Panaji remained under dense cloud cover, bringing brief relief from the heat. According to the India Meteorological Department, the sudden change in weather led to a slight drop in temperatures in several areas. However, humidity remained high, continuing to cause discomfort.
Panaji saw overcast skies through the evening, with thick clouds covering the city but without any significant rain. In contrast, some other parts of the State reported brief thundershowers.
Goa has been experiencing above-normal temperatures in recent days, along with high humidity. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was around 33“34°C, while the minimum was about 25°C.
No major weather warnings have been issued for the coming days. The government on Wednesday reviewed its preparedness for possible heatwave conditions. Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Revenue) Sandip Jacques stressed the need for quick and coordinated steps to reduce risks to the public.
Highlighting public safety, Jacques asked authorities to step up awareness campaigns on heatwave precautions across various platforms. He stressed the need to inform people about safety measures and advised them to avoid going out during peak heat hours unless necessary.
He also directed that proper facilities be provided at public places, including safe drinking water and first-aid support, to help people during extreme weather.
