Fomento Green CEO Kamat is no more at 54

MARGAO: Noted writer, lyricist and social activist Shridhar Kamat passed away on Wednesday noon after a brief illness.
He was 54 and is survived by wife Anju, son Harsh and daughter Ashwini.
A Chief Executive Officer of Fomento Green, an initiative of Sociedade de Fomento Industrial Pvt Ltd, Shridhar had worked closely to solve the burning Sonsodo waste issue and was instrumental in the commissioning of the Fomento Green waste treatment plant at Sonsodo on December 12, 2012.
An engineer by profession, Shridhar was a writer and a lyricist and his lyrics were sung by noted Hindi playback singers.
Condolences can be offered to the bereaved family at his residence at Gogol Housing Board till 11 am on Thursday. His mortal remains will be taken to the Goa Medical college and hospital, Bambolim as he has donated his body to the education of medical students.
He is the former vice-Chairperson of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
People from all walks of life, including friends, social activists, politicians, MLAs paid rich tributes to him at his residence at Gogol Housing Board when news of the sad demise spread on Wednesday evening.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat tweeted his condolences saying he was "deeply saddened by the untimely demise of his friend Shridhar Kamat."
"I will always remain indebted to him for his support, guidance and true friendship," Kamat said.
Offering its condolences, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee said that Shridhar had always stood by progressive and liberal values for the past two decades. “He stood by values throughout his adult life and his loss shall be a great loss to the civil societies as the society is passing through difficult times. Shridhar had stood like a rock against the forces opposed to secular and inclusive society. He was clear that Goa’s development lay in the growth of pluralism and he contributed his bit in that direction”, stated AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar.
