Police achieved a significant breakthrough in the Vasco child abuse case, when a 60-year-old man from Hyderabad was arrested on charges of bringing minor girls from the Banjara community near Medak district in Secundarabad.
The arrest comes days after eight minor girl children were rescued from abusive conditions from a flat in Baina and the main accused, Venus Habib, was the first to be arrested in this connection.
Patlot Takaria was nabbed after Vasco police team led by PI Nolasco Raposo left for Hyderabad and brought him to Vasco on Friday morning.
According to Mormugao DySP Sunita Sawant, Takaria was arrested after Habib disclosed to Vasco police during interrogation that minor girl children had been brought from the Banjara community near Medak district in Secundarabad.
“Our Vasco police team nabbed Takaria from Hyderabad and brought him to Vasco police station today. He was produced before JMFC Vasco and he has been remanded to seven days in police custody. We are investigating the case further in all angles,” said DySP Sawant.
DySP Sawant further informed that the main accused, Venus Habib, was remanded to another 6 days in police custody by the Goa Children’s Court on Friday.
