Aam Aadmi Party while hailing the High Court order on the Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Ltd reiterated its demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should resign for having failed in administering the state which now has to be looked after by the court.
Briefing media persons AAP leader Adv Surel Tilve said the procedure followed by the promoters of the project and the Mollem Sarpanch was contrary to the tenets of the Panchayat Raj which is aimed at taking governance to the grass root and making people responsible for their development.
Adv Surel pooh-poohed Chief Minister’s claim that people living in London and other western countries were objecting to the Goa Tamnar project in the reserved wildlife sanctuary and pointed out that because there were objections at the local level the sarpanch did not discuss the project even with his panchayat members, leave alone the villagers at the gram sabha.
“The High Court has rightly taken note of the fact that granting of the permission was a unilateral decision by the sarpanch without even placing the file before the panchayat members and cancelled the permission granted for the controversial project,” he said.
Adv Surel lamented that the BJP government has become so desperate that it violates and circumvents the rules and laws of the land just to help their businessman friends and supporters even at the cost of the common man and said the Tamnar is one such example of BJP’s highhandedness.
